Despite driving for 5 or 6 years I have never before washed my car. Until last month it had seemed unnecessary, I was driving a somewhat dented Citroën C1 that was given to me by my grandad. This was a car that was actually more interesting because of the dirty and dented nature of it. Upon receipt of my brand new Audi a3 however, it felt like keeping it clean would suddenly be more of a necessity.
There is only one problem, I have no idea how to do it. I mean, it seems simple enough. Water, soap and a sponge, I’ve seen it done in movies a hundred times. Though I’m not sure you are really supposed to lay across the bonnet while cleaning the windscreen, I guess teen movies are not the best source of practical advice.
I have all of the necessary kit, and a car that, after all of the rain we have had recently, is in need of a good clean. So as soon as the weather takes a turn for the better (next week apparently) I will embark on my new mission. This time next year I imagine I will be an expert car washer person, or maybe I’ll just pay someone else to do it.
